I Found 3 Low-Competition KDP Niches with High Demand in 10 Minutes!
I’ve been publishing low-content books on Amazon KDP for years now — journals, planners, workbooks, you name it.
But if there’s one part of the process that still slows people down, it’s finding a niche that actually sells.
You know the drill.
You spend hours scrolling Amazon. You check out the bestsellers, spy on other authors, and try random keywords in the KDP search bar.
And half the time, you end up chasing a niche that’s either too competitive or has no demand.
So recently, I decided to do something different:
I opened up Helium 10, a tool most people associate with Amazon FBA, not KDP.
And in just 10 minutes, I found 3 low-competition, high-potential KDP niches that I’m now sharing with you.
Here’s how I did it — and the exact niches I found.
Finding Low-Competition KDP Niches with High Demand in Minutes!
Let’s find out my 3-step easy to follow process to uncover low-competition kdp niche ideas fast!
Step 1: Think Like a Shopper, Not a Publisher
Most KDP creators start by thinking, “What kind of journal should I make?”
Instead, I flipped the question:
What are Amazon customers already searching for that doesn’t have enough good books yet?
That’s what Helium 10 helps you uncover. I used a tool called Magnet, which gives you real keyword data from Amazon, including search volume, competition, and related phrases.
Step 2: Type in a Broad Seed Keyword
I started with something broad like:
“mental health journal”
Magnet instantly pulled up hundreds of related keywords — some with high search volume and surprisingly low competition.
Step 3: Filter for Opportunity
I filtered the results to focus on:
- Search volume: 500+
- Word count: 2+ words (to focus on long-tail keywords)
- Competing Products: 3000 at max (to find low competition keyword ideas)
Boom. Within minutes, I had a shortlist of goldmine ideas.
🎯 The 3 KDP Niches I Found
Here are the actual keywords I found with the volume and opportunity notes.
1. “Adhd Planner”
- 🔍 Search volume: 13,279
- ⚔️ Competing products: Less than 2,000
This keyword has insane volume, and the competition is surprisingly light.
There’s clearly a huge demand for structured planners designed specifically for ADHD brains.

Idea: Create a planner with ADHD-friendly layouts — short task lists, visual timers, hyperfocus trackers, etc.
2. “Shadow Work Journal”
- 🔍 Search volume: 7,958
- ⚔️ Competing products: Less than 1,000
This one taps into the self-help and spirituality space. Shadow work is trending, and there aren’t many high-quality journals on Amazon yet.
Idea: A guided journal with prompts for emotional healing, inner child work, and self-discovery.
3. “Dig Deeper Journal”
- 🔍 Search volume: 6,307
- ⚔️ Competing products: Less than 335
This is a golden long-tail keyword. It implies people are looking for a deeper, more meaningful journaling experience, but the competition is incredibly low.
Idea: Create a reflective journal with open-ended prompts that help people explore their beliefs, identity, and values.
