Amazon KDP Earnings Report 2024: My Real Earnings!

In this post, I’ll share my detailed KDP earnings for the year 2024. You’ll get insights into:

• Total units ordered.
• Royalties earned.
• Ad spend in the US and Canada marketplaces.
• Overall ad costs.
• My net income.

Keep in mind, this report is based on just 10 books – all math workbooks. Out of these, 9 are live, while 1 is unpublished. Let’s dive into the details!

Total Units Ordered

Here you can see I am in the KDP dashboard, and I am on the orders tab. I have selected one author name—that is my math workbook brand—and you can see 10 selected books. From January 1 to December 28, unit orders totaled 3,150 units.

My best month was May, and sales remained almost consistent during the other months. Now, finally, this is December, and in total, we received 3,150 orders on our 9 math workbooks.

Here’s the breakdown:

• Timeframe: January 1 to December 28, 2024.
• Total Units Ordered: 3,150.

I have been running KDP ads for most of my math workbooks throughout the years. I tried both auto and manual ad campaigns and kept killing campaigns that didn’t bring good ROI. I promoted my book in two marketplaces, US and Canada only.

Ad Spend in the US Marketplace

During the year 2024 (JAN 01 through December 27) the add cost in the US Marketplace was $2,737. With this add spend, I got total sale of over $10,100 with an Acost (Adverting Cost) of 26.94%.

To get these numbers my ad campaigns received a total of 718 clicks. Below an overview of my KDP ad spend during 2024.

• Total Sales: $10,100.
• Ad Spend: $2,737.
• ACost (Advertising Cost of Sales): 26.94%.
• Clicks: 718.

Ad Spend in the Canada Marketplace

In the Canada Marketplace I only spent $105 Canadian dollar got a sale of $424 Canadian dollar with the a cost of 24.91% and the impressions were over 23,000.

• Total Sales: $424 CAD (~$317 USD).
• Ad Spend: $73 USD.
• ACost: 24.91%.
• Impressions: Over 23,000.

Total KDP Ad Spend

Combining the US and Canadian marketplaces, my total ad spend for 2024 was $2,810 USD. Next, comes the most exciting part that is KDP royalties (how much I earned from those 9 math workbooks!).

Now let’s see the total income that is royalties. So royalties were $5,317 from those 9 math workbooks. Below is the screenshot form my KDP reports dashboard showing total royalties during 2024.

You can see the best month was May 2024, and I got around $800, and most of my months were for around $400. You can see, on average, I was making around $400, and my best month was during May.

• Best Month: May 2024, with royalties of approximately $800.
• Monthly Average: Around $400.

After subtracting the total ad spend of $2,810 from the royalties of $5,317, my net income was $2,507 USD. This translates to about a 50% profit margin, which I consider a great result for a small catalog of books.
