How I Got 118 Sales in 30 Days on My Gumroad Store

I love to create and sell simple digital products on Gumroad…

Mostly because I create these little PDF files once, and they keep getting views, sales, and making me passive income every single month.

Now here is the truth: I’m not making thousands of dollars from these digital downloads.

However, every $10, $20, or $50 does add up toward my total monthly income.

Anyway, let’s see my stats from the last 30 days (September 1 to September 30).

My Gumroad Stats

Here are my numbers from the last month (all from simple digital downloads):

Total product views: My products collectively got 1,461 views during the month of September.

Total Sales: I received 118 total sales from those 1,461 product views, with just over an 8% conversion rate.

Total Income: I made a total of $160.77 from those 118 sales.

Here is the thing: I have a lot of free products on my Gumroad store; that’s why my total income is much lower compared to my total sales.

But I don’t mind that. I love to create and share freebies as they help a lot of my readers and subscribers.

My Top Traffic Sources

I got those 1,461 views from a lot of different sources; here are the top 3:

1. Direct and Email: I occasionally share my digital products with my email subscribers on Gumroad and Systeme. This one source brought me a total of 667 product views and 58 sales.
2. My Gumroad Homepage: 102 people landed directly on my Gumroad store and bought 4 products in total. I’m not sure; maybe they have bookmarked my store.
3. Long Sweet Pub & Medium: Though Gumroad shows these as different sources, I know they are both the same. The first one is a Medium publication, and the second is Medium itself. I got a total of 174 views and 17 sales from these two sources.

Now let’s see where the actual sales came from.

Top Platforms that Made Me Money

Here are the top platforms/sources that made me money.

1. Direct & Email: I made most of my income from direct and email. I made a total of $81.59 from this source during the last 30 days.
2. Medium + Long Sweet Pub: I made $64.18 ($40.18 + $24) from Medium, making it my second-best income source for digital products.
3. Recommended by Gumroad: This third and last source made me $15 — not bad at all.

In total, I made $160.77 in total income from these top 3 traffic sources.

Though I started selling digital products online in 2020, I was doing it part-time.

I have been very inconsistent as well, mainly because I publish books on KDP and run a blog as well.

However, seeing the growth over the last couple of months, I am thinking of giving more time and effort to this side hustle.

Mainly because these types of digital products are easy to create and give a higher ROI compared to other passive income models.

Final Thoughts

I’m quite happy with the results from the last month from my digital products. I had a higher conversion rate of 8%, which I believe is very good for this business model.

I love the fact that these digital products take me a lot less time and effort to create and go live very fast. I’m still learning and making progress with these passive income ideas.
