I Published a Children’s Book on Amazon. Here’s the Course That Made It Happen.

I had zero experience writing children’s books. One week later, I had one listed on Amazon KDP.

That might sound like a BIG claim, but it’s not. It was uncomfortable, confusing at times, and required more decisions than I expected. What made the difference was following a course built by someone who had already done it dozens of times.

Before I get into the details, let me give you some honest context.

Why Children’s Books on Amazon KDP?

Most people who discover Amazon KDP start with low-content books: journals, notebooks, planners. Simple interior, simple cover, upload and go. That’s a legitimate strategy, and it works.

But children’s picture books are a different category entirely, and a more interesting one. Parents buy them repeatedly. Grandparents gift them. Schools order them. The audience is large, emotionally invested, and willing to pay. A well-positioned children’s book can sell for years without much promotion.

The challenge is that creating one isn’t obvious. You need to understand story structure, age-appropriate language, illustration flow, cover design, Amazon keyword strategy, and how KDP’s print-on-demand system actually works for full-color books. That’s a lot of moving parts for someone starting from scratch.

Enter: Children’s Book Creator by The Home Boss

The course is created by Lady Nouria Korbi, who runs a YouTube channel called The Home Boss. She has been creating and publishing children’s books on Amazon herself, generating real income from her catalog, and decided to package her process into a course.

It shows. The course doesn’t feel like theory. It feels like watching someone walk you through exactly what they do, because that’s what it is.

There are 9 modules covering the full journey from initial concept to published book. Here’s what stood out to me about each phase.

What the Course Actually Covers

Modules 1 and 2 handle the foundation. Before you create anything, you need to understand how children’s books are structured, what print-on-demand requires in terms of layout, and how Amazon’s system works for this specific book type. These early modules save you from wasting hours going in the wrong direction.

Module 3 is where things get genuinely useful. Choosing a topic sounds easy until you’re staring at a blank page. This module walks you through how to find story ideas that have actual demand and teaches you how to structure a plot that works for young readers. It’s practical and fast.

Module 4 is the highlight of the course. Nouria walks you through creating her actual “Monty” book, interior and all. You’re not watching a hypothetical example. You’re watching the real process, which means you can follow along directly and adapt it for your own book. I found this section more valuable than anything I’d found on YouTube for free.

Modules 5 and 6 cover something most new publishers ignore: discoverability. Your title, subtitle, keywords, and book description aren’t just administrative details. They determine whether your book gets found on Amazon or disappears into a catalog of thousands. This module treats those elements seriously, and it should, because they genuinely matter.

Module 7 covers cover design using Canva and KDP’s cover templates. A children’s book cover has to stop a parent scrolling through Amazon results. This module gives you the framework to create something that looks professional even if you have no design background.

Modules 8 and 9 close the loop. Module 8 walks through the actual KDP upload process, step by step. Module 9 covers promotion, which is often the piece people skip and later regret.

There’s also a bonus companion eBook that summarizes the course content so you can reference it while you’re working without rewatching lessons.

Who This Course Is For

This is an advanced-level course. If you have never used Amazon KDP before, you’ll want to understand the basics of the platform before starting here. But if you already know how KDP works and want to expand into children’s books, this course gives you a clear, actionable path.

It’s especially well suited for:

  • KDP publishers who want to move into a higher-margin book category
  • Writers who have a story idea and don’t know how to bring it to life on Amazon
  • Side hustlers who want a creative product that can generate passive income

The course is practical, focused, and doesn’t waste your time. If you work through it seriously, you’ll have a published children’s book at the end.

My Honest Take

I went through this course and published a children’s book because of it. The process was clearer than I expected, and the step-by-step format kept me from getting stuck.

What I appreciated most was Module 4, watching the creation of a real book rather than a demo. And the keyword and title strategy in Module 5 was something I hadn’t seen covered this well anywhere else.

If you’re serious about children’s books on Amazon, this course is worth your time.
